Methods: Data were obtained from medical records of patients hospitalized at the Department of Psychiatry and Medical University of Malampanga, Malampanga City, Philippines from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2022. Patients were diagnosed with the following medical conditions: schizophrenia, depressive disorder, schizoaffective disorder, anxiety, social phobia, and borderline personality disorder. The diagnosis was based on a clinical evaluation. The patients were divided into two groups according to the number of previous hospitalization: Group 1: 1,000 patients; Group 2: 100,000 patients; and Group 3: 200,000 patients. We defined the percentage of patients with a diagnosis of the following adverse effect as the proportion of patients that had the following adverse effects: the frequency of adverse effects, the frequency of severe side effects, and the incidence of adverse effects. The patients were followed for at least 7 days and were hospitalized in a tertiary hospital. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS version 13.0 (SPSS, Chicago, IL, USA).Pvalue >0.05 was considered significant. Results: The median age was 39.9 years, and the median hospitalization duration was 4.6 months. The rate of hospitalization for adverse effects was significantly higher in Group 1 (0.6%) than in Group 2 (0.1%). The frequency of the following adverse effects was also significantly higher in Group 1 (1.2%) than in Group 2 (1.0%). The frequency of severe side effects was significantly higher in Group 1 (2.3%) than in Group 2 (2.2%). There was no statistical difference between the frequencies of the following adverse effects between the two groups.
